$50.00
On 23 August 1994, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty—the duo behind the electronic group The KLF (operating as the K Foundation)—literally set fire to £1 million in cash inside a disused boathouse on the Scottish Isle of Jura.
The £1 million in brand-new £50 notes represented almost the entirety of the royalties and surplus funds they earned at the peak of their global pop success.
In November 1995, Drummond and Cauty placed a 23-year moratorium on themselves, vowing not to publicly explain or discuss the act until 23 August 2017
To date this is the only official text on the events that occurred that day.
